An innovative cancer treatment combining anti-angiogenic agents with targeted radiotherapy: preliminary results in dogs
Vascular tumors are conditions characterized by an abnormal proliferation of blood vessels. Tumor vascularization—also called angiogenesis—refers to the development of new blood vessels within a tumor, which is essential for its growth and spread.
These new blood vessels supply the tumor with oxygen and nutrients, enabling tumor cells to grow and metastasize to other parts of the body.
Tumor vascularization is therefore a key target in cancer therapy—specifically radiotherapy—where techniques are developed to inhibit this growth, effectively “starving” the tumor and preventing metastasis.
